West Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Oklahoma are overwhelmingly white.

One of the under-told stories of this country is the plight of whites in poverty. Robert Kennedy use to talk about this. But once the GOP reframed the debate with its racial politics, the Dems ran away from the issue of poor, working whites. And the GOP manipulated them with "God, Guns and Gays" into believe they had more in common with the rich than they did with their fellow companions because they were a different race.

The good news is I think we are in for change. In the future this could be a group we can win. And then poor whites can stop voting against their own economic interests.

He has that, and to him poor white people are the backbone of this country. If they have to have government assistance it's just a temporary setback on their road to wealth. The 47% is a thinly veiled reference to the off white poor, that is the one's who don't really need to paint their face to fit in. If those people need help its because they are lazy drug addicts who would rather pop out as many kids as possible to get all the government money they can.
