Gov. and Mrs. Romney filed their 2011 tax return with the IRS. At 3:00pm today,

The complete 2011 tax return, with full schedules, statements, and attachments, will be made available with all other previously-disclosed information at www.mittromney.com/disclosure.

Also posted will be a notarized letter from the Romneys’ tax preparer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PWC), giving a summary of tax rates from the Romneys’ tax returns for the 20-year period of 1990-2009.

In advance of the posting of these new documents, I wanted to provide some top-line details.

Regarding the newly-filed 2011 Tax Return:

In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor's statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.

I just don't know if that information has to be disclosed to the public.

We the people have the right to see their returns to determine how his tax proposals relate to his tax returns

We want details. The IRS wouldn't settle for a summary. And neither should we. Keep up the pressure until he can't take it anymore. I want to see his face turn red and see him bluster and fume. And I'd pay money to see Ann's reaction to the continued pressure to produce the documents......in their entirety, Ann. All of it. No summaries will be accepted. Who does she think SHE is??? No, wait.....we already KNOW who she thinks she is. But we ain't buying it. Just give up the tax returns....all of them And if you won't do that, just don't complain when you LOSE.

..to make it seem legit. That's the problem with filing NOW. they have had this entire time to "work on it" as they put it, to make it look decent, and as desperate as he is to be in the White House, he'd be willing to forego his usual tax schemes and shenanigans.

And the "summary" of the other years. How fucking stupid do they think we are????

9. generous?

Every time Romney has deigned to mention his tax returns he has added his charitable contributions as if they should be counted as paying taxes. Many "Christians" including Mormons, Catholics, and fundamentalists are urged by their faith to give at least 10% of their income to the church so that it can do good works. Even if everyone in the US contributed to private charities as Romney does the amount would not come close to what is needed to care for our neighbors whose income is so low they do not pay income tax.
The Trustee letter mentions how "generous" Romney's contributions have been. If I give 30% of my income, all of which is from social security, that might be called generous. If I have $250,000,000 in the bank, have millions in mansions, horses, cars, 30% of the $14 million income I made in 2011 might not look so generous and 30% taxes might seen a little fairer.

that Romney seems to overlook.

I think he lumps in his tithing because he sees no difference between Church and State:they're both after HIS money.
