In general, if you propose new social spending, you should also detail how you would pay for them

Be honest with the American people on how you would fund these programs. Just taxing the rich or cutting defense is often not enough to pay for these programs. Without discussing how you'd pay for them, you're just pandering to the masses. You're doing what Republicans do when they promise tax cuts without explaining what services they'd cut.

If a broad based social program is worth having, then it's worth having EVERYONE pay for it in some way.

a strong public option. He said Hillary was out to pick my pocket with her mandates. Then he got elected and said 'oh none of that really meant anything, it was just stuff, you have to have mandates to make this work."

I get that the rules are different for Bernie, but I sure wish someone would say just why that is.
