A loner's dream.

[font color="black" face="Arial"]

Some days I don’t leave my apartment. Indeed, it’s not uncommon for a few days to go by without my feet touching a sidewalk even once.

What am I doing in there? I’m working a fulfilling job. I’m buying a new pair of super bass headphones. I’m eating fresh sushi. I’m talking to and laughing with friends from Canada. I’m watching the latest Hollywood films. You know, just regular everyday stuff that people typically do outside the home.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]This is an amusingly written little article that almost perfectly describes my happy loner existence. While I do have a little patch of garden that draws me outside into the sunshine daily, I don't actually have to go anywhere more than once a week or so.

Actually, I'm even one step ahead of the author in that I already do most of my routine grocery shopping on line with a local chain and have it delivered. It's awesome.

Excellent article: [font color="black" face="Arial"]http://www.psmag.com/business-economics/how-long-until-i-never-have-to-leave-home-again-63905

Buy much on-line, including the laptop I'm typing on -

pick ordered stuff up at the Post Office when I go into town for groceries.

Haven't had to leave my property for 10 days now, time before that was 14 days.

My spirits just soar as I see my laneway on a trip back from town.

Working up to not leaving for a month, maybe longer,

stocking up . . .

After driving 2 miles thru the bush, then down an older highway along the Ottawa River,

This is what I see as I enter the small town

I live about 7 miles to the left of the picture below -

this is an aerial view of my wee town.

My shopping trips are usually a half-day or more event, small town of 2,000 - I know at least half of them.

Much of my time is spent in short chats with friends and customers from my past businesses in town.

I enjoy the chats, but am more than happy to be back in my bush spot.

Only thing I really miss about living in cities,

(I lived in Toronto more than once),

(as well as quite a few others),

Is 2 for 1 Pizza deliveries!

oh well.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]You're a lucky guy.

I sympathize about the lack of pizza delivery, but I'll bet you learned to make your own when the craving hits!

I buy the most basic frozen cheese pizza, then embellish it with whatever I'm in the mood for.

Usually fresh tomatoes, onions from my garden, slices of ham, mushrooms, and an assortment of brick cheese slices.

New home has a $2,000 propane gas stove/oven - works great!

Funny thing that, about the gas range -

when I was preparing to buy the place, owner told me oven didn't work, I loved the place, so said no biggee.

However, when I took a peek at the oven, it looked brand new!

I turned the control knob for the oven, waited a few seconds, nothing happened.

I thought maybe they just didn't know how to light the pilot, or it had blown out.

So I pulled out the bottom drawer, sure enough pilot was not going.

BTW, bottom drawer is a BROILER not a drawer, it too had never been used.

Anyways, pilot failed to light.

Being a curious old mechanic, I downloaded the manual for the gas range,

Voila! - the "pilot" is a small electric element, takes upwards of 45 seconds for it to heat up -

Turned the control back on, 1 minute later -

"woooof!" burners in the oven fired up.

Oven works perfect!

and it's purty . . .
