Related: About this forumParents rip mom who complained about school Bible handout: ‘You’re outnumbered here’
Jessica Greene considers herself a Christian, but she doesnt think Cloverleaf Elementary in Cartersville should allow Gideons International to hand out Bibles to students, reported WXIA-TV.
...
Greene posted her concerns on the schools Facebook page but was pilloried by other parents before Cloverleaf disabled public posts.
Some of the last comments I got before it was taken down from the page were, Youre outnumbered here, Greene said.

Imagine what would have happened if she said she was agnostic.

(9,356 posts)Or at least the Northwest fringes of the Metro Atlanta area. But "Metro Atlanta" is spread over parts of 5 or 6 different counties, which can make jurisdictional spats interesting.
Just pointing that out to show Cartersville is not really out in the sticks.
Like, for example, where I'm sitting right now. Directions to my Mom's house: (1) Take the first exit off Interstate-85 (2) Drive North till you hear "Dueling Banjos..."
Because I was Forcibly Retired last year and am thinking of moving to a cheaper place, I'm seriously
thinking about moving back here.
Stuff like that article really gives me second thoughts. I've lived in Los Angeles a long time and can always find something interesting to do there.
Back here - not so much. I don't follow sports and don't go to church, so I'd have a damn limited social life...

If you do decide to move there, onager, you'll have lots of exciting new material for your posts, which are already great, but just imagine how even greater they could be if you lived there!

(18,219 posts)I have heard this too many times myself, and I don't usually speak up unless it is blatant church/state separation issues. I have been told to just "fake it" or "sit quietly and let everyone else pray" or things such as that.
Religious privilege---this is the definition of it. For those who do not believe there is such a thing, just remember that comment posted on the FB page. "You're outnumbered here."

How brave are those Christians! Wiping their Facebook page comments, too.

(33,982 posts)There's a few others that might work:
"Hard pressed on my right; my left is in retreat. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent. I am attacking. Attaquez!"
- General Ferdinand Foch (to General Joffre during Battle of the Marne)
"They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can't get away from us now!" -CP again
"Casualties many; Percentage of dead not known; Combat efficiency: we are winning!" -Shoup

(9,356 posts)Couple of others I remember from him, being a former Marine. Both on a similar theme:
Guadalcanal, 1942:
"Col. Puller, what is our last line of retreat?"
"The Pacific Ocean."
Chosen Reservoir, Korea, 1950 - a retreating U.S. Army unit gets mixed in with Puller's Marines. The young Army officer checks in with Puller to coordinate strategy...
Army officer: "Sir, we're pulling back. Where should we halt?"
Puller picks up the field telephone: "We have some Army troops in our area. If you see any of those troops pulling back, even one foot - shoot them."
