Largest great white shark ever videotaped underwater?

Holy crap!

Mexico’s Guadalupe Island is seasonal home to dozens of adult great white sharks, but as far as anyone knows, none is as large as a monstrous female nicknamed Deep Blue.

The massive predator, measuring 20-plus feet and boasting the girth of a fat hippo, was featured last year by the Discovery network, which aired part of a tagging effort that involved local researcher Mauricio Hoyos Padilla.

The shark, perhaps 50 years old, was said to be one of the largest white sharks ever tagged and videotaped, and on Tuesday Hoyos posted newly released footage of the same shark on Facebook, under the title, “I give you the biggest white shark ever seen in front of the cages in Guadalupe Island… DEEP BLUE!!!”

to do a shark cage dive to see great whites. I have seen plenty of sharks but would be a really awesome thing to see. However, this shark would make me rethink my sanity. Holy cow.

Reminds me of the shark in that animated movie with the fish. Can't recall the name (Shark Tale?); even took my son to the theater to see it.

That the shark in Jaws was nicknamed Bruce by Spielberg and the crew. Bruce was the name of Speilberg's lawyer at the time.

... it reminds my of some very wealthy capitalist, their lackey politicians, and the voters who support them.

But they are opposites too. The shark is beautiful, an emblem of the grandeur of nature. May she live long and prosper.

The capitalist is most often a heartless predator, becoming wealthy at the expense of other human beings and damaging the natural environment, while refusing to pay their fair share in the economy that supports their extreme and lavish lifestyles.
