44 Years ago today, a man called Armstrong walked upon the moon

Back in the early 80s, I was part of the L-5 Society's effort to get July 20th declared a national holiday. We did get 'Space Day' proclamations passed in some states.

There were over a million people who worked to make that possible.

Plus of course the Taxpayers who footed the bill.

44 years? Sure does not seem that long.
What a disappointment, when they pointed that vidicon TV camera at the sun. All but wiped it clean.

By pointing it at the sun?

My memory could be wrong.

I always remember to call because of this.

I was far to young to remember the actual walk but I live it vicariously through him. He remembers it like it was yesterday.

We got to show the world that we were, indeed, the baddest badasses around.

We got to the moon in just a few years. Kicked Soviet ass.

And we were good badasses, to boot.

What a miraculous thing. I remember watching as a child, Armstrong's ghostly apparition as he stood at the bottom of the ladder, tested getting back up the ladder, tested the soil, then stepped off the landing pad, onto the moon.

To this little kid, it seemed like anything was possible then.

but found 40 odd billion for border security to protect us from one of the fastest growing economies. Makes sense if you support racing to the bottom.
