Do Mormons believe in the holy trinity?.

From what I have read they do not. How can the so called religious right say Romney is a Christian and vote for him?. Just curious why the Christian right is not so Christian now. Could it be they have been a phony puke masquerade all along?.

Forgive me if I'm harsh, but I don't think much of a cult that worships the almighty buck.

Essentially they LIKE the words of Jesus....

not necessarily a statement that supports they are Christian...

Joe Smith, is he their Jesus figure?

Mormons believe that returning to God requires following the example of Jesus Christ, and accepting his atonement through ordinances such as baptism. They believe that Christ's church was restored through Joseph Smith, and is guided by living prophets and apostles. Central to Mormon faith is the belief that God speaks to his children and answers their prayers.

There are 1 or 2 errors but it is pretty close.

I used to be a RW nut & was in a RW Baptist church. No one but us was getting into heaven.

No Catholics or Liberal Protestants or cult members, period.
Maybe some Ass-of Gods might make it, but they were nuts & probably not saved.

Oh yea I voted for Reagan & others so RW I dare no disclose & read John Birch stuff.
I got less stupid in my 30's & now you could call me Red Lefty. Oh yea, I was member of Liberty Lobby & a real bigot.

I hate to admit this stuff, but when people see me get angry & nasty to to RW'ers, it is cause I know exactly what they are all about.

Oh yea, 5 years of Kung Fu & many years of competitive target shooting, I know how they want to fight liberals and what they have in store for them.

I know how mean, stupid & dangerous these types are, cause I was one of them.

and no.

I did 1 year of Fundy bible classes also, so I am pretty well schooled in how to debate
almost anyone.

Apologetics was one of my classes.

As far as any religion goes, Swedenborg stuff or Unitarianism is about all I will tolerate, and
I have been thrown out of Religious threads here already.

EDIT: Esoteric Taoist Yoga, Tibetian BUddhism, Voodoo and Wicca, are all other things I explored & all of them had real
useful & true aspects, so I guess I have been around the block.

I think the virgin birth is somehow related to the Trinity.

conception from sex between Joseph and Mary. That sort of knocks the old Trinity over right there and also makes it a moot question.

I was at one meeting about 20 years ago & there was only 1 christian guy in the whole fellowship, also
it was Gay Marriage day, in like 1992.

I was just beginning to leave the RW brainwashing behind & here I was surrounded by dozens of gay couples & I had a great time.

It was the beginning of a new belief system for me.

The modern version comes out of the reformation and dates to 1565, in Poland. The american Universal Unitarian church can trace its history back to colonial New England in the 1750's. And yes they are historically a christian protestant faith, even though the modern UU puts much more emphasis on universalism than on christian unitarianism.

They have a dramatically different view of the godhead that historical Christianity. Same words, different meaning. Mormonism is basically polythiest. It is the goal of every mormon male is to become a god.

I had to laugh when I read this headline, because it reminded me of how angry someone would get regarding that very subject. My ex girlfriend was a (non-practicing) Mormon and I a (non-practicing) Catholic. I still prayed at night when I was with her, still said Grace before eating, perhaps out of habit, perhaps out of the hope that something might be listening.

Anyhow, she would always go on about how terribly stupid Catholics were. "How can something be three things and one thing at the same time... it doesn't make sense... Catholics are idiots..." etc. We had several debates about the subject, usually leaving me annoyed with how intolerant she was of any point of view that differed from her own. I'm no true believer, I haven't got a clue about the holy trinity, God, or anything else.

It was the certainty (absurd certainty) that her religion was "right" and the other was "wrong". I've long since had it with organized religion, but I look back at that as one of the reasons why.

modernity, more and more Mormons claim that they do.
Mormon theology is a thicket, nobody can really say anything for sure.
Mormons in fact do believe that the number of gods is unlimited, that it includes the creature we usually call Yahweh and another one called Jesus, and a bit less clearly the one we usually call the Holy Spirit. Very separate creatures. Believe me it goes on from there in an unending crowd, and is likely in the future to include Mitt Romney and Ann Romney. For the feminists in the group, let's emphasize that there are and will continue to be far more goddesses than gods, they're needed for the gods to be properly married.

In your wanderings you will meet Mormons who claim to be monotheists. In a sense they are, just keep in mind that they refer to the chief god, who is absolutely not the creature we call Yahweh or Jehovah. The chief god lives elsewhere, on Kolob.
