Paul Ryan, the presumptive Republican nominee for vice president of the United States, received a grade of F for his voting record in Congress, the Secular Coalition for America said Monday.
Ryan voted the way the coalition advocated on only one issue in seven during 2011.
The coalition lobbies for several secular groups, including American Atheists, the American Humanist Association, the Atheist Alliance of America and several more.
The votes Ryan cast and the reasons he was marked down for them were:
Voting for an amendment to end funding for Planned Parenthood;
Voting for school voucher programs, which atheists said primarily went to private religious schools;
Voted against an amendment supporting findings that recognizes climate change;
Voting for a bill allowing exemption from registration and disclosure requirements for some church retirement plans;
Voting for the reaffirmation of In God We Trust as a national motto; and
Voting to require the conveyance of land to the Indian Nations Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which the atheists said discriminates against nonbelievers.

(10,437 posts)1. Looks like that hardcore Republican influence of a certain new lobbyist isn't that influential.
Maybe they would have given him an F- had it not been for Edwina's pulling the SCA to the reich-wing eh?

One can be a reichwinger and an atheist.
