(6,452 posts)Men tend to be assholes, no matter which group they're associated with. Look at 4Chan, SomethingAwful.com, etc., etc., etc.

(8,040 posts)Not that I get the point of this OP. Find some board full of assholes that are atheists. Why? To prove they can be assholes?
We already know that atheist can be assholes. They can be misogynists too. Should I go looking for boards that have christian misogynsts? Cuz I'm sure I won't be able to find one of those......
Ha...even if I did, I would get an earful about how they aren't "real christians".

I'll get to rhetorical points when I'm done.
Who in their right mind can post that shit and think it's funny, let alone progressive or rational?

Anyhoo, MIRT has some library girl experts on the team and I am sure they were quick to educate the newbies.

We don't actually run an organization with trillions of dollars in assets, protect pedophiles, or officially promote (and lobby governments for) policies that are anti-women/anti-progressive/anti-gay.
So if you put that aside, yeah, it's all the same, rug...

(82,333 posts)I seriously doubt there is anything about atheism per se that prevents these attitudes should it achieve state power.

(33,579 posts)I think the difference is in some religious communities the behavior is institutionalized.
No atheist group i have ever been with condones child rape or the subjugation of women as a tent of the faith. I have not found an atheist community that believes in beating children or honor killings or that women should throw themselves on the pyre of their husbands, or that women should be forced to marry their rapist.
These are things in religious communities.
