NFL reporter says league may not count a Chiefs game when determining playoff seeding

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nfl-reporter-says-league-may-160201332.html

As Hamlin recovers, the NFL is moving forward, having announced Tuesday that all Week 18 games will be played as scheduled, but the Bengals-Bills game wouldn’t be resumed this week.

Should that game ultimately not be played, it would have an impact on playoff seeding, and The Star’s Jesse Newell took a look at what that might mean for the Chiefs.

Benjamin Allbright, an NFL reporter for KOA Radio in Colorado, said Tuesday the league is considering options for playoff seeding with the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals all in the running for the No. 1 seed.

Assuming all three teams win this week, then do the following:

1. Add an 8th team so no bye for the 1 seed
2. Lottery the 1-3 seeds
3. If any of the top three seeds play, then play at a neutral site

More money $$$ this way

Is it a win or a loss of theirs?

And against which team (because that weighs into seeding as well when there's tied records ... if you in AFC, then an AFC win matters more than an NFC win).

The only way it's maybe remotely fair ... is if the game that doesn't count is the unplayed game vs The Raiders this weekend.

That way the outcome isn't known, so you're basically randomly picking a game, and it's an AFC game.
