That was classy of Tom.

May have something to do with him loving the 49ers as a kid growing up in San Mateo. Or maybe he always does it when asked

Trippy that was only the 2nd time he's played at the 49er's stadium in his whole career. Typically you'd play at a given NFC stadium every 8 years if you're an AFC QB, though it can be as long as 12 between trips (or as short as 4). Tom was in the AFC for like 20 seasons and was knocked out hurt like once the whole time, when he blew his knee out in 2008.

That was a year they played at SF, and Matt Cassel was Pats QB. 2004 game was in NE (his first game vs 49ers), as was 2012 game. So 2016 was his first time playing at SF, his 15th season as starter. And that was kinda lucky too as Brady was suspended the first 4 games of 2016, if the SF trip had been in that time he'd have missed it again.

Anyways, it was fun watching him get his ass completely kicked in his homecoming

And losing BADLY to a rookie getting his first-ever start

I did not expect that game to go the way it did yesterday. It wasn’t on my tv provider’s line up so I had to listen on XM radio which ended up being awesome because the announcers were local SF guys…totally biased just like me. Brock Purdy was out of control and it was riveting radio. Tom Brady having a sad was icing on the cake. Somewhere in the great unknown, my dad was smiling down on the whole thing and I toasted him at the end. I might have had a little more wine than I intended in the excitement of it all.

and played thru.

49'ers have always been my 2nd team after my Raiders (I'm the rare die-hard Raider fan that doesn't hate the 49'ers reflexively ... all the great teams/players/seasons after the Raiders left to LA had a lot to do with that).

Fingers crossed Brock is okay. He was impressive as hell...but he's SO young. The mama in me wants to keep that baby safe.

His chances were 2004 (but was at NE), 2008 (at Candlestick, but his ACL was torn), 2012 (but was at NE), 2016 (he played at Levi's), and he moved to TB in 2020 season (but Pats game that year was at NE anyway) and this was Bucs first game vs 49er's at all in those 3 seasons he's been there

but it was the last live concert they ever played together

There's gotta be a cryptic message buried in that, somewhere.
