Our hummingbird show up in early May, stay a while then disappear it seems. Then, after the Crocosmia blooms, they all come back and feast on the Crocosmia and then on all the other plants and feeders we have out for them. We have photos of them at the cigar plants but nothing as beautiful as your pics.

Then feeding activity greatly increases as you say when there are more mouths to feed.
