Birders
Related: About this forumjust had a blue tit smack into the back of our house (Instantly dead)
Looks like it broke its neck. It was quite a thud.
So I wrapped it up in newspaper, popped it into a ziplock, and placed it in the freezer.
Called the local taxidermy guy just out of town. £130 to mount it up.
At least the bird will have an after-life.
Need to find a nice glass dome.
Considering we counted 95 blue tit landings in an hour during the RSPB Birdwatch last season, I can suppose there is still a healthy population.

(23,553 posts)We had a problem w/ wood peckers attacking our cedar paneling on our house in the Ozarks, so we put up some pie pans (alum. ones) that seemed to do the trick.
Good luck to you and at least, you are giving a decent after life memorial to the blue tit.

(1,832 posts)The sun was very low in the sky when it happened, I wonder if there were some strange reflections from our neighbours conservatory.
In 7 years of living here in the U.K. (Northern Cotswolds) we've never had a bird strike.
Had one young blackbird decide to come in the house and take a perch on our bookcase. One squab wood pigeon in the shed. And a blue tit that flew in the upstairs bathroom window. All instances, resolved with healthy birds back outside.

(119,244 posts)a denizen of the western hemisphere, only they're mostly blue and don't have black heads. Chickadees are also very common and have been infesting my bird feeders all winter. I don't have a stuffed one, though.
*A blue tit is not necessarily a characteristic of a cold stripper.

(18,832 posts)And put up a few removable dollar store stickers (flowers and such) and some tiles on the windows so the birds won't hit them. So far, so good. RIP lil' blue tit.
