Putting a runner on base in extra innings. Limiting coach trips to the mound...
Stealing first base? Nah!

there are W A Y too many games and the Nine Inning thing needs to go...we attended a couple of 7 inning games that were caused by rain outs and it was a pleasure. The tickets cost way too much for most fans to attend more than a few games a year. I feel that Baseball is dying. I haven't had my home team on the TV all year because I quit with the Cable Ripoff, besides I have never been able to sit and watch a nine inning game on TV for years. I now have zero interest in the playoffs. I feel the same about Football, to many commercials and my home team hasn't been competitive in 25 years....boring! I tune in for the playoffs mostly.

3. Way too many commercials to start with.

I used to be a HUGE baseball fan. But the steroid era started my loss of interest. It was like watching slo-pitch softball down at the park. When a Brady Anderson could hit 53 homers (or whatever) I really started losing interest.

Then came the commercials. With long pauses between innings and every small stat sponsored by some local bug killer. Games got so long, very little action.

We used to trip down to our local A level team about 6 times a year. Haven't been there in a decade. I got no idea what baseball needs to do to bring the fans back in - I would say 15 seconds between pitches and cut down the between innings stuff, but I doubt they will do it. Way too much commercial money to be had.

What little sports I do watch now is college football and basketball where there are often several games on at once. When one game goes to commercial I switched to another game, or another to miss commercials.

Seldom watch pro sports which I usually describe as commercials with bits of a game shown occasionally.

Which at least is one more thing to watch at the game.

Steals may never come back. It’s counter to the current Billy Ball rules of making pitchers throw as many pitches as possible. It’s a free out with only one pitch. Hitting is home run or strike out now. Very little moving runners along.

5. They think fans want more home runs but I think they are wrong.

Deaden the ball, turn some of those homers into balls off the wall, more runners, more plays at the bases from the outfield. Did anyone watch Kiermeyer throw out Verdugo at 3rd last night? Teach the fans why defense is important and exciting!

is base running. My favorite play is not the home run, it's the stolen base.

9. This is going to a baseball game for me:

I live 150 miles from where the Giants play, so after driving for three hours, I am rewarded with a $50 parking space. I likely paid Stub Hub $100 for my ticket. But once I am there, I settle into my seat at one of the best baseball stadiums in the country. The food and drinks are outrageously expensive but at least they are very good. I don't eat much there anyway, and with a three hour drive home, one beer is my limit.

There isn't a bad seat at that stadium, and I've sat all over it. The scoreboard is great and so is the sound system. The fans are nice people and in those few hours some good conversations can be had. On my retirement income, I can afford this outing maybe twice a year. Because of Covid last year, being asked to stand at the 7th inning stretch for a religious song (God Bless America) while I am an Atheist and being asked to worship the Police and the Military before seemingly every game, I haven't attended for several years.

Will someone explain to me why all efforts seem to be focused on making my enjoyable time at the game itself shorter?
