Chihuahuas clinch division with win, Isotopes loss
A final pitch was thrown way up in Utah and then, just like that, the El Paso Chihuahuas were champions.
They have all worked through conditioning and weight training in the winter, through the grind of spring training in February and March, through a season that runs through cool, sometimes chilly temperatures in the early season, through the suffocating heat and sometimes humidity that comes with the dog days of summer.
And then, on a cool, cloudy Wednesday, the El Paso Chihuahuas took care of their business, dusting Las Vegas 5-0 in front of 7,596 appreciative fans at scenic Southwest University Park. The magic number had been two – and that win was one of the two.
An Albuquerque loss would be the other half of the equation.
