http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/no-sanction-fee--no-wbo-title-for-floyd-mayweather-011247890.htmlMayweather failed to pay the $200,000 sanction fee required by the World Boxing Organization for the belt he won on May 2 when he defeated Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas by the deadline, which was the end of the business day on Friday. So on Monday, the Puerto Rico-based organization stripped Mayweather of its title.
It elevated Timothy Bradley, who defeated Jessie Vargas on June 27 for the interim championship, to full champion status.
WBO rules require boxers to pay 3 percent of their purse in order to fight for a world title, with a minimum of $1,000 and a maximum of $200,000 for fighters like Mayweather who earn extraordinary large purses.
H2O Man? What's going on here?

(73,537 posts)The WBO is a tape worm. They wanted Floyd to pay them to recognize him as champion. He doesn't need their paper title -- everyone knows he is the champion. Can you imagine when they name someone else as their title-holder?

On the other hand, Bradley would be a good opponent for September. You've likely heard Floyd is considering fighting on CBS, rather than a Showtime PPV. Timothy is a tough guy, and would create far more entertaining a bout than Pacquiao or Canelo did. He'd be more like Ricky Hatton, in rolling the dice. He wouldn't be satisfied to last the decision. And he sure as heck would let his hands go.
Floyd would definitely outbox him. But it would be a fun fight for the fans. And Bradley deserves the pay day.
