(14,498 posts)2. I still call Shea Stadium "Shea Stadium".
The media calls it "Citibank Field" or some such bullshit but I couldn't care less.
BTW... isn't the "real" McCovey Cove behind right-field of old Candlestick Park?

(41,831 posts)4. McCovey Cove renamed? World Series hoax gets soggy reception
After a local television station reported this morning that the naming rights to McCovey Cove near AT&T Park had been sold, the Internet was aflutter with angry Giants fans wondering if theyd have to endure yet another bad corporate name in sports.
As it turns out, it was all a hoax.
A small San Francisco tech company admits that it came up with the idea of trying to trick people into thinking it had bought the name to McCovey Cove, which is officially China Basin Channel. The companys PR team sent out a press release and before they knew it, reports were being circulated that the inlet would be called #Boatbound Bay yes, named after a hashtag.

Not a very funny Hoax, after Willie McCovey who just recently got out of the hospital, appeared at AT&T Park in a wheel chair, to be honored by the SF Giants along with a few Giant greats before first pitch.

(10,893 posts)5. Thanks for this.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this ever were to happen, though considering how some of the big whigs act like there are never enough landmarks in pro sports named after businesses.
