(18,161 posts)I was thrilled in 2004 although I missed the celebration because of the election. I didn't think we'd ever win one in my lifetime.

(45,984 posts)Some of you may think that's modest, but San Francisco doesn't need a fistfull of world championships to be a world class city.

(31,168 posts)(6 overall), Oakland Athletics = 4 (9 overall), Cleveland = 2 (they would have won a third in 2007 had the Sox not been juicing).

(29,322 posts)would have defeated the Rockies. I know the Sox made it look easy but everything would have different. Decisions on what pitch to throw, reactions to situations, etc. would have made the series very different. Not saying the Rockies would have won of course but just that it would have been a different series.
Though I'm not sure you can the '07 were juicing. They had drug testing in '05(I think). Perhaps you could say Manny Ramirez since he never stopped but Ortiz was from 2003 and I really don't trust that as there were no appeals process, no way of knowing if it was a false positive, don't know what the exact substance he tested positive for.
I'm just screwing around. Of course there's no way of knowing.

(4,357 posts)Don't know what's wrong with them this year. It's early, though.

(8,554 posts)I was right there for the Big Red Machine days, and couldn't ever reconcile how bad they got screwed in '81. Moved West in '80.
Not much to say about the Mariners, except I've felt forever sorry that Junior never saw a World Series and am now beginning to feel the same for Ichiro.

(68,918 posts)They don't have that veteran presence in the clubhouse any more and they suffer for it. When there was Magglio, Placido, and Carlos, the team played better. Now it seems we have better hitters with less discipline. For one, Miggy should be getting in trouble for appealing to first base. The team is better than they are playing.
