Gun Control & RKBA

Some weeks back, a controversy arose as to whether or not gun prohibitionists were responsible for the Holocaust. This posting is not to re-open that debate. The purpose of this posting is to illustrate the dangers of gun/gun-owner registration. Governments can use gun-registration as a means to disarm and round-up its citizens. And they have. Worse, however, "benevolent" governments can have their registration records seized by an invading tyrant. The result: Civilians of these countries must now resist without arms. Smuggling will ensue as with all prohibitions, but the quality and quantity of weapons will be poor until the enemy's first patrol is taken out, and better arms and munitions can be used. The larger question is Why? Why should a people or nation have to suffer such consequences? Gun-ownership is no guarantor of successful self defense against a take-over by ones own government. And it is no guarantee that a tyrant can be successfully thwarted. But we have ample examples where a nation's people are doing just that. Should we speculate on those chances? Should be compare modern tanks and planes with a Kalashnikov? Should we dwell on the reputed negatives of some "gun culture?" Should anyone labor under a false history of submission, lack of valor, or a romanticized vulgar pacifism that pictures of people awaiting their fate engender? a trained military with sophisticated weapons? You even state that the "well regulated malitia" part of the second amendment is not important.
I don't by the argument for the above reasons.

By this "logic" every American has the right to own a nuclear weapon. If a people is to protect istself from the government, the people must have superior strength. Our gov't has nukes so in order to be truly free, I need nukes.

Not a logical policy in a civilized society. Somalia, maybe. Lebanon, maybe. US, no.

No part of the Second Amendment guarantees anonymity in gun ownership.
