homeowner shoots, kills suspect during home invasion

http://www.abc57.com/news/local/Elkhart-homeowner-shoots-and-kills-suspect-during-home-invasion-172593141.html

According to police, the homeowner said four people had attempted to break into his home. He shot two of them and the other two ran away. One of the fleeing suspects was caught by police after a short foot chase, as of late Wednesday night the other is still on the loose.

"Now we're going to fear for our lives, because of the crazy people around here,” Tabitha Bowe explained. “I'm with my children all day long, I don't work you know, so yeah I'm scared now, I'm really scared, I could be the one being home when something like that happens."

If you live in fear then the criminals have already won and you will drive yourself crazy worrying over every imaginary sound.

On the other hand if you break into someone's home then you deserve whatever happens to you.

... of dying in a car crash. But, I still wear a seat belt.

I know statistically that a home invasion is relatively rare where I live -- but, I keep a firearm in a secure place in case I need it.

Obviously a partially-inflated tire tube, along with spray bottle containing a (very weak) bleach solution woud be more than sufficient...

Real experts know that a can of corn, while looking impressive on the mantel place, is too impractical for real self defense.

That's why no real military units use them. The SEALs, SAS, and Israel Mossad have all shifted away from the antiquated corn weapons system to the far more effective and practical canned bean delivery system.

Now whether such military grade legumes have a place in the hands of civilians is another debate entirely.

I was scared and felt helpless. I no longer live in fear because that was not living at all.
