Romney to Address NRA Weeks After Revealing He’s a Gun Owner

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/04/romney-to-address-nra-weeks-after-revealing-hes-a-gun-owner/

Mitt Romney will address the National Rifle Association‘s annual meeting later this week, a speech that comes at a crucial time for the candidate who is working to appeal to the conservative base of his party as he inches closer to clinching the Republican nomination.

Romney, who tells voters on the campaign trail that he believes “we have all the laws we need” in regard to gun control, revealed for the first time just over a month ago that he owns two shotguns. When asked about his stance on gun control during a town hall meeting in Columbus, Ohio, in February, Romney said, “I believe in the second amendment, I’ll protect the second amendment. I have guns myself.”

“Not going to tell you where they are. Don’t have them on myself either, all right,” he added.

The admission came after years of varied remarks on his own hunting experience.

"I'll take your guns while taking a break from sending your job to China and coddling banksters"?

His shotguns are probably made by Italian or British boutique manufactures and each cost more than my house.

the last time he claimed he owned a gun, it was really his son's. I'm guessing it was one of those "must fly to London to choose the gold enlay and pick it up" ones too.

I'm waiting for him to go on a UK fox hunt, was walking the Scottish Moors in tweeds and a Purdey.

Romney has an antii-gun past and he needs to backpedal away from it. He knows that nationally gun-control is a loser. So naturally he will try to buddy up to the NRA.

I still think if the NRA endorses him over Obama, that the NRA will lose all credibility as an apolitical organization.

If they are honest, they'd not endorse at all this year and just sit this one out, at least as far as the president's race is concerned.

The have already committed themselves to going "all in" against Obama. They had to have made that commitment knowing that Romney was the likely nominee. They probably had some quiet conversations with him regarding guns and Romney shifted to a stance they could accept.
