"Well, I keep this 38 under my pillow you know. I was in the bed. So when this door opened, I made three shots up here and shot her yeah."

Didn't he realize it was time to give up his stuff to a more deserving person. 82yo being impolite to society and visitors like that...

(68,644 posts)See what I did there? I used a funny word to shit on gunowners, funny, right?
I wish I had a cartoon! Derp!
Actually, I feel for the old guy, apparently a repeat victim of women "bringing him meals".
I guess he doesn't have family to help him along, I hate people who prey on the elderly.

Then again, I suppose anyone who uses a Holy Gun is in the right all the time.
Personally, I wait for both sides of a story.

(15,396 posts)There's the difference... Remember guns are the only bad "guy" in stories like these.
Warpy
(111,255 posts)except I wait for both sides of a story, while you are ready to hang them high without hearing it.

(5,455 posts)I'm thinking probably not.
And the article makes it sound pretty clear cut, she tried to kick down the door, succeeded and got shot for it, which is why she will be released to police custody once she is released from the hospital where she will join her boyfriend in jail.

(111,255 posts)I might have been more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Forensic evidence seems to be going both ways.
Zimmerman? He was contradicted six ways from Sunday by eyewitness and forensic evidence and Martin never gave his side of the story because Zimmerman shot him.
This gal will be charged with B&E because even if she was there with good intentions, she failed to call the cops for a welfare check. Then again, POC are generally disinclined to call the cops for any reason, understandably, so if she's a POC that is another factor to consider.
Again, I'm glad the old coot's aim is so bad. This is better than the usual gun story because everybody is alive.

BTW, this is from a liberal source.

(5,455 posts)All of the evidence regarding the Wilson-Brown shooting is not out yet, so anyone who has decided Wilson is guilty has chosen to jump to a conclusion based on insufficent evidence, incomplete reporting and their inherent bias.
As for the Zimmerman trial, apparently you didn't watch it, virtually every witness who testified, excluding those with a personal relationship to either Zimmerman or Martin, supported Zimmerman. The forensic eveidence overwhelmingly supported Zimmerman.

(18,640 posts)to crimes that don't involve a gun?
-simple theft, he could have been hungry
-domestic abuse, she may have attacked him and he was just defending himself
-rape, maybe she agreed to sex before they started drinking and she just doesn't remember
Warpy
(111,255 posts)so you're shit out of luck there, buddy.
simple theft--not if it was his property to begin with
domestic abuse--it can be mutual but men do a lot more damage and cops go by who's hurt the worst.
Both sides always have a story to tell. That's why we have trials with juries instead of simply taking people out and lynching them.

(18,640 posts)No
In those other cases you know a crime was committed based on evidence surrounding the incident but a door being kicked in needs context to determine if a crime was being committed.
Should the elderly gentleman waited until he was beat to death before defending himself?

(111,255 posts)Bring on the lynch mob, I guess.

No lynching. I just think "the other side" of this story needs to be told in court.
I don't see where the homeowner did anything wrong. I think people should ring the bell, not kick the door in, if they wish to talk to you
