ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Just before 2:00 a.m. Wednesday, the burglar alarm went off at the residence at 1563 Georgia Avenue.
27-year-old Jimmy Jones Junior, a tenant at the residence, got his gun, thinking there was a burglar inside.
He spotted a dark figure moving, fired one shot which struck the individual in the elbow. Turns out, it was his roommate, 27-year-old Gene Anthony.
Family members who did not want to go on camera say that Anthony is in critical condition at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

(5,756 posts)Perhaps someone with a medical background can smack me down. How do you end up in critical condition by being struck in the elbow? Severe bleeding or the like?
We hear of people shooting themselves in their extremities all the time and I can't recall them being in critical condition. Pretty much five times on Gun Appreciation Day.
Seriously, I'm curious. I'm not trying to be an unfeeling, unsympathetic ass.

(13,985 posts)I mean he knew he had a roomate, why not confirm it wasn't him before firing?
It makes no sense.

(13,985 posts)Turning on the lights is not adviced because it makes you vulnerable.

(10,136 posts)Darkness favors the prey/hiding.
Turning on the wrong lights (eg, the ones behind you) would be a bad thing....

I prefer concealment.

If you have decided to clear the house (not recommended) or have otherwise gone on the hunt, darkness favors the prey.
