(26,368 posts)He was so tiny and scraggly. And SO LOUD. Now he's a sleek, handsome and very quiet kitten.
And Gryff's fur condition is a 100% improvement over what it was like when I first brought him home. It was so dull and coarse feeling. Now he's a shiny little panther.

(26,368 posts)I think because Madoc was so small, he had to really compete for food when he was nursing. Once inside, he would run from bowl to bowl to bowl, eating everyone else's food until I'd put him back at his bowl. He'd eat a few bites and then head back to everyone else's meal.
The first day Gryff was here, he headed straight to the same bowl Madoc was eating from. When I tried to pick him up and move him to his bowl, he dug his claws into the rug and totally stiffened up. But, once he realized there were TWO bowls, he got much better.
It's still a challenge to direct them to separate bowls, when I put down the wet food, but I think of it as a kitten ballet performance.

(3,444 posts)over her food, as if she was trying to hide it and protect it from being stolen. She would growl when eating when we first adopted her, too. She is till a little food obsessed with asking for treats. Both cats know my hubby is the soft touch and can't refuse their begging. It's like musical chairs when I put down their wet food, they go back and forth, eating from each other's bowl, like the kitten ballet you describe.
Looks like they are really growing and filling out, really healthy and happy looking. They both won the kitten lottery jackpot when you adopted them 😊

(26,368 posts)Madoc is slender, like Sophie Stinky Toes was. Gryff is like solid muscle. I think he's going to be a big cat.
They go in on the 10th for neutering so I'll find out how much they weigh.

(57,073 posts)I can just hear the kitty gears turning in his sweet head, as he is watching birds.
And Gryff - what a gorgeous fluffball!
Lucky for you that they are unaware of their superstar status here on DU.

(24,173 posts)the bird noise while watching them? One of our cats makes that for bigger birds, like mourning doves, but not for sparrows and chickadees.

(26,368 posts)Gryff is very quiet. I get an occasional trill out of him, but that's about it.
Madoc is also pretty quiet but he gets very vocal when I'm getting their food ready. When he was tiny, he was very vocal. I guess he has figured out how to order me around via kitten mind control.

quiver while theyre making that sound.
Thats a very entertaining compilation. The sound is so consistent from cat to cat.

(16,722 posts)It's great how nicely they've bonded. They're really sweet together.
I think Madoc is going to be a tall, lanky cat when he finishes growing.

(26,368 posts)Same very really soft fur, too. She never got very big but she was sleek and lanky. Gryff has a very solid, muscular build.
There's not a whole lot of difference in size but Gryff definitely weighs more.
I'm taking them in on Friday morning to be neutered. The appointment is at 8, so hopefully I'll be able to pick them up before the vet closes at 5. I'm sure the vet techs will be happy to see their little foundling, Gryff. He had stolen all of their hearts during the few days he was there.
