A $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed a family’s dog while burglarizing a home Saturday in north Omaha.

The Nebraska Humane Society announced the reward Thursday in connection with an incident in a home at 3332 N. 38th St., said Mark Langan, vice president of field operations. A family in the process of moving returned to the home at 8 p.m. and found their 11-month-old Rottweiler, Bella, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, Langan said.

Langan said evidence at the scene suggests the suspect entered through the bathroom window and that the dog was shot on the main floor before running to the basement.
