A male calico that can reproduce is very rare indeed. (AFAIK, color genes are on the X chromosome, and calicos have one ginger and one black gene. In somatic cells, only one is expressed, and this is on a random basis.)

When the calico pattern exists in a male, it’s because the cat has three sex chromosomes: two X, one Y (male).

Therefore a female cat can be both red and black (calico or tortie) and a male can be red or black but not both. This is why most all-orange cats are male.
