Molly is making progress.

The vet has switched her to maintenance chemotherapy, given by us in pill form at home. She is eating better and has actualy gained a little bit of weight. She is a trooper -- being given five or six pills twice a day and she never fights or runs, merely looks a bit indignant afterward. This whole ordeal has not changed her personality a bit.

I have had two cats, and can't remember if giving them pills was difficult, so I guess it wasn't!
I know my dogs have always loved butter and forming a blob of butter around a pill makes the pill slide down their throat. As I recall cats seem to like to lick something first rather than gulp it, but it might be worth a try.

We have to pry her little mouth open, drop the pills into the back of her mouth and then hold her mouth shut until she swallows. My wife is really good at it, so the 5-6 pills go down in two "drops." Molly knows they are coming whe Kathy starts getting ready, and she looks aprehensive but just waits for it. Once in a while she runs, but only to the middle of the room. It's more an expression of her state of mind than attempt her avoid her fate. Kathy gets bitten a tiny bit once in a while, but it's not anything Molly does on purpose, it's just Kathy being a little too slow getting her finger out of Molly's mouth.

Molly is sometimes really pissed off afterward and glares fiercly at me, even though it was Kathy prying her mouth open. Maybe I was supposed to defend her and didn't. Not sure, but I tread softly until she lightens up. Mostly she just looks indignant, "I can't believe you just did that to me!"

I can't do the pill thing because Parkinson's makes my hands too unsteady. You have to be accurate and fast. Molly is quick.

At least she is moving in the right direction. I hope all goes well. Keeping our fingers crossed.

How do you get her to take them as I hear it's very hard to get cats to take medicine?

My vet gave me one at the same time we got the meds. Ask your vet about it.

Molly is a BEATUTIFUL girl! My best wishes to you, and to her continuing to improve.
