Dear NJCher, please forgive me for jumping in tonight! I suspect you're working late or have a conflict.
Crab cakes based on New York City's Palm restaurant's recipe, (the Landlady(!) used to know the kitchen staff). Make a mixture of crab, mashed potatoes (not too much or you could substitute bread crumbs), sautéed celery and onion, powdered yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, an egg or two, black pepper, a shake of Old Bay and a dash of garlic powder. The mixture is formed into patties and coated with bread crumbs then fried in an iron frying pan.
We had an avocado and a tomato that had to be used so we boiled the tomato, skinned it and made a side dish of the mashed avocado and tomato. We also have a tartar sauce from NYC's City Island.
A green salad and steamed asparagus round out the dinner.
I think I saw Klondike bars in the freezer...

(5,525 posts)but we had grilled chicken breast that was marinated in ranch dressing, homemade italian bread hot from the oven, iceberg and romaine with tomatoes/carrot shreds salad, black grapes and homemade apple cake for dessert. And our second dessert was an imPEACH! G'nite y'all.
Marthe48 had already posted a dinner thread at the time I arrived at the forum, a little after 5, so I just posted on her thread. Here's my post from that thread:
The RG went to the Polish deli and then to a large grocery store that we've never patronized before. We're having chicken and mashed potatoes. I made a salad to go with, which is mixed greens and veggies like carrots, celery, cucumber, etc.
On my salad I put honey mustard dressing and used pretzels as a crunchy for the top. Really good!
For dessert, the RG bought quattro leches cake (to compare to my tres leches from yesterday). Also caramel pudding to go with it. Found some chocolates that are shaped like kisses but are actually truffles. That's dessert. Coffee.
Thanks for stepping in.
