You've been eating tuna for decades that has been contaminated by the food chain arising around Bikini Atoll.

While I'd avoid tuna as a three meal a day staple, that's as much for the bio available mercury as anything else.

The Pacific Ocean is big, really really big. The irradiated pollution plume from Fukushima is measurable but very dilute.

There will be an uptick in leukemias and thyroid cancers from it, but it will be cases per million, very low risk.

Just make sure that tuna has been frozen if you're eating it raw as sushi or sashimi. Freezing kills some rather nasty parasites.

tuna are top predators, and tend to concentrate heavy metals from the fish that they eat - mercury contamination in tuna was once (and maybe still is) a big concern. Don't eat it every day and you should be ok.
