Made this today and it turned out great!
Ingredients:
8 quarts of reconstituted powdered milk
1 pint half and half
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons salt
1 rennet tablet
Materials:
1 large stock pot with lid
1 large wooden stir spoon
1 long bread knife
1 baster
3 8" cake pans
Heat milk and half and half in the large stock pot to a temperature of about 100 degrees F. Crush and dissolve rennet tablet in about a couple of tablespoons of water. Stir in sugar, cornstarch, salt and dissolved rennet.
From this point on, I followed this lady's instructions but I put the cheese into two 8" cake pans. I used three 8" cake pans all together so I could flip one into the unused one and then flip the second into the one I had just used.

(36,298 posts)I like to sprinkle salt on mine. Some people like it plain and some like to warm it in the microwave and spread butter or jam or jelly on it. Old timers liked it dunked in their coffee.
