This is dire, important advice.
If you remember only one thing I've ever told all of you, it's this.
DO NOT EVER EVER EVER USE STORE-MADE PIZZA DOUGH FOR ANY REASON. NEVER ! ! !
I was in a hurry and got some. Made a promising calzone. First bite and I knew I had made a heinous error. OMFG. Paste would taste better. It was an insult to Italy.
Lesson learned. Make your own batch and stay as far away as you can from that supermarket shit.

(11,581 posts)We have been making our own for several years now. Ditto for focaccia and other breads.

(111,255 posts)Regular pizza dough is both quick and simple, especially if you have either a good food processor or a strong mixer with a dough hook.
That supermarket stuff cuts corners on flavor elements and speeds up the dough proofing and both combine to produce cardboard.

but we have a fantastic Italian deli in the neighborhood which sells delicious pizza dough. It's the same dough they make their own pizza from. Saturday night is homemade pizza night at our house.
