Smoothie recipe using whey

I like making Greek style yogurt, but you get a lot of whey as a by-product, actually more by volume than what you get in yogurt. One of my favorite uses for whey is smoothies.

Ingredients:

6 oz whey
1 ripe banana
1 scoop protein powder (vanilla flavor)
6 oz frozen mango chunks

Put all the ingredients into your blender in the order listed and blend until smooth.

I use a commercial Blendtec blender which has quite a bit of power. Some consumer grade blenders may not be able to handle these quantities and you may have to add more whey or other liquid ingredients.

Naturally you can vary this recipe with your favorite frozen fruit. Frozen cherries and chocolate protein powder is quite nice.

But smoothies are pretty much a blank slate in which you can add all sorts of things. I have used wheat germ, which is excellent to add to smoothies.
