What's for Dinner, Tues., Jan. 20, 2014

It will be a late dinner of whatever looks good from the frig when I arrive home around 11 p.m. tonight--first night of a new class!

I look forward to getting back home on this cold night to see what everyone else's culinary concoctions were.

This has been an all day project and it's looking pretty good. It's a Mexican staple and I have never made it before.

We have guests coming and are doing a kind of pot luck thing.

Hope you class went well!

There's a local place in the county that makes that as their specialty. It's great.

Plus they do the Sunday menudo.

After I told our guests what I was having, they told me they go to a place in San Blas that makes the best albondigas on earth and they would be rating mine in comparison.

OMG!!

They loved it, one had a big bowl of seconds. It took most of the day to make, but I will definitely do this one again.

with tomato sauce, nothing fancy. With wax beans - I'm thinking I'll just use the last of them even if it's a ridiculous amount.

And now I've acquired a stupid amount of grapes, so I'm making a grape pie for dessert.

If you're from Nebraska, you know what I'm talking about.

Dug out the stand mixer and the big cast iron stew pot, and let loose.

Cabbage carnage, flying bits of onion, and the big stainless bowl I like for dough rising.

The Wife said "I was just going to eat a little bit of one, but it was all gone before I knew it."

They're like that.
