One thing I'll make today is a cold kale salad. I have lots of pretty Russian kale at just the right stage.
Whatever recipe I choose, it will have nuts in it. I love the way kale and nutty flavors go together.

(14,733 posts)Although I'm thinking I'll use some spaghetti squash instead of regular spaghetti.
The heatwave is doing my raspberry patch some good; 3 cups of berries from this morning's pick. The rest of the garden needs watered, though, the garlic is yellowing off too quickly, and the sugar snaps are not going to be able to take this much heat, so it's time to harvest what I can and maybe rip those out and plant regular green beans. Just not enough cool weather long enough this spring.

(31,170 posts)I really like raw kale. Wish we had room to grow it!
No clue about dinner here...Bill is off tonight and we need to shop!

(35,662 posts)It's so pretty you could even grow it as an ornamental.
Much to my surprise, when I was cutting the kale today, I see my Toscano that I planted from seed came up, too! So I have both that and my Russian kale.
Toscano goes by other names. I think one of them is "dinosaur" kale?

(114,904 posts)with leftover roast turkey breast, left over sugar snap peas, leftover sauteed zucchini, currants, halved red grapes, toasted sliced almonds and a yogurt-may-cider vinegar, curry, honey and shallot dressing. I made it this morning and it's in the fridge for when I get hungry.

(9,823 posts)I vary it a bit, using pecans or walnuts, sometimes adding grated carrot, a little chopped green onion, but basically I make it according to the recipe. I've got some in my fridge right now.

(29,098 posts)I also have some fresh corn and I'll make a salad with some left over ham, romaine, tomato, cucumber and goat cheese.
My SO came home yesterday with six pounds of rainier cherries and I knew I needed to take action so I made a few cobblers for the freezer, the neighbors and our dessert this week. I know I can do some serious damage with the fresh cherrys but six pounds!!!
Glad I have a trusty crank pitter....

As blissful and totally satisfying meals, that are really easy to prepare, go, few things can beat this.

(2,016 posts)The repair guys finally got their act together today, and I'm back to having 2 functioning ovens.
I get home from work, and promptly put them both in self-clean mode. Tomorrow.... I bake!
As for tonight, it's leftovers. Tomorrow is trash day, so whatever I don't eat will have to be sacrificed to the trash gods so as to start anew. I have a lamb chop leftover, steam some broccoli, but not too sure about the leftover risotto (probably would be mush if reheated).
Did I mention my ovens are fixed??

(106,886 posts)Forgot how good ripe cantaloupe stuffed with feta fit the bill. No prosciutto, but it worked.
