I can make 2 loaves of whole wheat bread or 3 batches of cookies at once!
And I already love it, even though I've done nothing with it except put it on the counter and admire it for about an hour

They are great machines and bloody well bullet proof.

(36,827 posts)I use mine so much that I kept my older flip top version as a backup just in case the bigger one ever craps out (I don't think it ever will). The reason I went to the bigger one is because the smaller one couldn't handle the bigger jobs like breadmaking without scaling down the recipe.
I have pretty much all the attachments for it except for the grain mill and ravioli maker so if you have any questions about those I can help. I even have the ice cream maker (which I like). I rarely use the roto slicer. I would use it more, but my food processor does those types of jobs better and is easier to clean. I've also found the pasta extruder to be not that useful, however the pasta roller set is awesome. The meat grinder works well. The fruit and vegetable strainer isn't bad. The citrus juicer is OK. It certainly beats doing it by hand, but if you do a lot you'd be better off getting a good citrus press. I have an aftermarket paddle which scrapes the bowl better and is very useful for a lot of different jobs, but I still use the original paddle about half the time.

(28,791 posts)I found the roller for the old mixer (and the grinder) but I don't know if they will work with the new one, and the roller got rusty anyway

(36,827 posts)I had the grinder before I got the bigger one and it works fine with both. I got the pasta roller after I got the bigger one, but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work with any of their mixers.
The pasta roller I have is a set of 3. You use the first one to roll the pasta out flat and one of the other two in order to cut the type of pasta you want. A tree to hang up the cut pasta is also invaluable.

(36,827 posts)The ice cream bowl attachment is a little hard to figure out because they made it to fit all the mixers, but it's not a big deal.

The article even has advice for decorating or changing its color, if you get sick or what you have now.
My sister won an "Artisan" model in a cooking contest late last year. She already has a professional model, so she gave the prize to me! I love it! Cookie baking is a breeze, and it whips up egg whites better than any hand mixer. Great for pizza dough, too. One of these years, I would love to get a grinder, shredder, and the ice cream and pasta attachments. But first, I want the beater with the rubber flex edge.

(29,098 posts)Such a deal! You are going to love it. Now that I am an empty nester and no longer cook as much I find it a little larger than I really need.
I have the industrial gray color.........
And even though It no longer sits on the counter it is still highly prized and one of my most favorite kitchen appliances.
And I'm another supporter of the paddle with the scraper....I got mine on Amazon...Just make sure you order the one for the larger machine.

(2,282 posts)We've had one for 30 years....still going strong. Be sure to get one of these beater blades for your mixer. They work really well...and can save you some bruised knuckles:

(11,785 posts)excellent for that initial beating phase, where you're trying to get the powder to dissolve fully and become a soft foam.
