What are you planning to cook Election Day?

I usually throw something in the slow cooker and run around canvassing all day long, but I think I am going to phone bank from home this year. So now I want to know if I am on the ONLY *crazy* person who actually plans election day/debate day meals like Thanksgiving.

Hmmm....maybe something inspired by Chicago. Or Hawaii. Or Kansas. Dang! Now I'm hungry.

Maybe "Patriotic" food...like a deep dish apple pie for dessert. Hmmm....

Brunswick stew on election night. Our only tv was in the basement, and that was the one night we were ever allowed to take our supper down there and watch the election returns instead of eating at the dining room table! I always think of that on election day.

Got a deal on mushrooms, and I'm going to make some fresh mushroom soup tomorrow, as soon as I get to the store for some broth. It'll be tomorrow's dinner, Tuesday's dinner... I may have to make a pineapple upside-down cake with some Hawaiian pineapple. It was a favorite back when I was a kid in Chicago.

"leftover" president. So happy to have a sane, kind, creative, brilliant man and his lovely family back in the White House for another 4 years! And leftovers mean you don't have to start from scratch! It's going to be a win/win day!
