These are typically the white rose or red rose potatoes; they're on the small side, but the larger ones also work.

Wash and place one or two of these in a microwavable (preferably glass) container with a matching lid. I add water up to about halfway in the bowl. Then I cook them on high for about 10 minutes. At that point, I remove the bowl from the microwave, and test the potatoes for done-ness. When they're tender to a two prong fork, they're done.

It looks more complicated than it really is. I have yet to have a potato come out less than done using this method.

My SO always wants me to make potato chips, but they never come out right in the oven and I don't want to fry them.

Cooking the rest of the meal. I always add water too so they won't be too dry.

And after a few minutes test if done using a fork. Also, poke them a few times with a fork before cooking so they don’t explode. Done when soft. Enjoy
