I got out to a meeting and made some new friends!

Have done a couple Zoom meetings the past two days which was fun (I had never zoomed before, technology is amazing!) and tonight someone came to pick me up. After nearly two weeks of isolation, at first it was weird to be around so many people. But I need to step out of my comfort zone if I am going to succeed.

As usual, the meeting hit on every single topic I’ve been struggling with the past few weeks. It’s crazy how that happens. I feel good (if not a little over caffeinated).

Tonight I am grateful for NA and also for my friend Frank who called at 9:00 on the nose to make sure I was safe and had not been abducted (we both watch a lot of true crime stuff). I am grateful for the new friends I made and their willingness to pick me up and take me home. I am grateful to be clean tonight.

I have made a few lifetime quality friends in the halls. And lots of good friends and community connections.

And I've discovered that, too - I've been in AA since 2008 - it doesn't take long to make friends at meetings, people welcome new members and tend to reach out. I got sober because I kept coming back!

My dad was a long time AA member and made some of his best lifetime friends that way.
He struggled with alcoholism for a long time but achieved many years of sobriety that made a huge difference in his life through AA. I will always be grateful for what AA did for him and for our family.

New, clean & sober friends keep us clean & sober 'till our legs quit shaking and brains start working again........

My old AA home group of many years traditionally went out to a restaurant for a snack and (more) coffee after our weekly meeting, resulting in many long-term healthy friendships....and in some case new sponsorships.

Thanks for sharing and keep coming back.........
