Defending her party after some of its members spent months going after contraception, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) said today that birth control isn’t very important to women. “Women don’t care about contraception,” she said on The View.

When host Joy Behar pushed back, Haley acknowledged that women do care about contraception, but she argued they care about it less than other issues.

HALEY: Women don’t care about contraception, they care about jobs and the economy and raising their families and all those other things–

Why do I have this feeling that Nikki Haley doesnt speak for the vast majority of women in the US or world for that matter. The GOP wants credit for being pro-diversity by running women who help attack women's rights, African Americans who help attack African American equality, and LGBT folks who are so afraid of their party they feel they have to hide the fact that they are LGBT. That is not pro-diversity.

2. Care and need are two diferent things

I haven't need BCed since 1984 when my husband got a vasectomy, but I still CARE because I have daughters who do need them. I also CARE about the younger women in the country who will now have to fight all over again what I had fight for to 40 years ago. That is NOT RIGHT, and I do CARE about that.

No, at 53 I don't need access to contraception but I have a 23 year old daughter who does. Like you, I care about her and the other younger women in this country. They have a right to make their own decisions and I do CARE that their rights are in jeapordy. Don't care? What in the world is she thinking?

4. Having control over ones body helps women with their families, their jobs and their

economic situations. In other words, Ms. Haley, we need birth control and are very interested in its continuation and for having it paid for by insurance.
