Kansas: School teacher compares homosexuality to murder

A middle-school teacher in Kansas has courted condemnation from students and gay rights activists after he wrote on his Facebook page that being gay was ‘the same as murder.’

Jack Conkling, who teaches social studies at Prairie Middle School, and is also a baseball coach at Buhler High School, wrote in a comment on his personal page that being gay ‘ranks in God’s eyes the same as murder, lying, stealing, or cheating.’ He also claimed that the Bible unequivocally claimed being gay was a sin.

The schools were notified by many students who were outraged by his comments, though local media reports suggest that several students also came to his defence.

Speaking to the local newspaper, Hutchinson News, he said: “I’m not condemning gay marriage because I hate gay people. I’m doing it because those who embrace it will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”

literature, art, math, or anything else that requires critical thinking. I really can't say what subject would be ok for someone like this to teach, he probably shouldn't be around children or civilized people.

Those with that mentality really believe being gay is a zillion times worse than murder. They never hound murders and tell them they are going to hell for murder. They never work hard and put lots of money behind taking as many rights away from murders away as they can. They never work to put murderers rights up for a vote. They never blame murderers for tornadoes and hurricanes. They never blame murders for all the pedophilia that ever happens. They never hound murderers with constant hate. They never beat a murderer to death. They treat murderers like God's special children.

They treat gay people like they want to annihilate us.

Murderers get more common courtesy and respect than gay people, by people with that type of mentality.

Thomas Witt of the Kansas Equality Coalition asked: “What would Mr Conkling say to a student who is getting bullied for being gay or lesbian?”

he's posting on facebook telling them they are going to hell - the question isn't what would he say to kids who are being bullied - he is bullying kids himself.
