Oberlin College Fires Professor Who Blamed 9/11, Charlie Hebdo Attacks on Israel

Joy Karega, an assistant professor at Oberlin College whose Facebook posts featured anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish global power and accusations that Israel was behind the 9/11 terror attacks and the creation of ISIS, was officially dismissed by the school’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

The Board of Trustees found that Karega’s posts, which were first reported by The Tower in February, were in violation of the American Association of University Professors’ Statement of Professional Ethics, which requires professors to “accept the obligation to exercise critical self-discipline and judgment in using, extending and transmitting knowledge” and to “practice intellectual honesty.”

In a statement, the Board of Trustees explained that Karega was given “numerous procedural protections” during the review process, including being represented by counsel and able to present witnesses and cross-examine people testifying against her. During the proceedings, the statement alleged, Karega “attacked her colleagues when they challenged inconsistencies in her description of the connection between her postings and her scholarship. She disclaimed all responsibility for her misconduct. And she continues to blame Oberlin and its faculty committees for undertaking a shared governance review process.”

its no longer merely progressive, but ultra-leftist. I think campus uber-progressivity is both bad for the world when they get out into the workforce, as well as making millennials too idealistic to vote for come out for and vote for mainstream candidates, helping to elect Trump.

Also, if there are some people thinking to themselves "how could ANY Jews defend Bannon given his private comments?" People like Joy Karega all over the country acting in the name of progressivism and having done so for at 15+ years now are why there are some Jews not getting all hepped up over private convo. There's a lot wrong with Bannon, like the trolls he allows to live on Breitbart's Disqus boards, but sorry, he's nothing close to Karega. Of course, Obama never put or tried to put anyone in his cabinet with such views as Karega, but my point is that the progressive claim to defending Jews has been considerably weakened bc of the far left.

The far left is now pro Trump and pro Putin, they think that the Obamas, Clintons, George Soros, the Rothschilds and others are part of some cabal that wanted to start WWIII. Really, just go over to JPR and look. They call it the "purple revolution" and the leader is Soros. Go look at the thread where they call him a Nazi collaborator. Granted it's hard to tell who is an actual progressive, given that the site is infested with RW and Russian trolls, but regardless you will recognize a lot of names.

Disagree with you about Bannon though, at the very least he is a RW propagandist and probably a racist and Antisemite.

tho I cannot say if he is an anti-Semite beyond a private and intimate conversation from 20 years ago; that doesn't make him OK because he does let anti-Semites and other racists freely troll his boards with no moderation and removal. I would rather him not be in the White House, tho I would rather a scandal unrelated to his divorce case comments derail him, if only because its bad publicity for us to have knocked out a political guy over private comments.

I just am very scared of this tho.
