OIL EXPORT VOTE BY AUGUST RECESS: Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) plans to bring her oil export bill to a vote in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee by the August recess.
Murkowski told reporters Thursday that the bill would be rolled together with three bills that would increase offshore drilling of the Gulf, Atlantic and Alaska coasts and provide for state revenue sharing.
" Offshore) revenue sharing and oil exports are very keen priorities of mine," she said. "I do a have a bill, it's a consolidated bill, and it's my intention that bill will move through the committee markup process before we adjourn for the August break."
Lifting the 40-year-old ban on exporting crude oil is a priority for Murkowski, but she left it out of the bipartisan energy package that she introduced Wednesday, since Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) does not endorse the proposal.
Murkowski said the vote on her bill would not be Tuesday, when the larger energy bill will start its markup.

Of course selling off our oil & gas (rather anathema to the idea of 'energy independence') is important to Murkowski -- her state is having a major budget crisis because of its oil-based economy.
