US envoy hits china's stand in UN climate talks

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CLIMATE_TALKS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-12-03-09-25-32

DOHA, Qatar (AP) -- The top U.S. envoy to U.N. climate talks is challenging China's demand for favorable treatment in carbon emissions, rejecting the current division between rich and poor countries for a future treaty.

In his first remarks at the climate talks in Doha, Qatar, Todd Stern said Monday the planned agreement, set to be adopted in 2015, must be based on "real-world" considerations, not "an ideology that says we're going to draw a line down the middle of the world."

Beijing wants to keep a division between developed and developing nations, setting out different responsibilities to cut emissions. China notes that despite its roaring growth, millions of Chinese still live in poverty, and emission limits would limit its economic expansion.

Hundreds of millions of Chinese want what you take for granted.

Why shouldn't they have it?

I just said China was not a developing country
Millions of Americans want what I have, does that make America a developing country??
Millions of Americans live in poverty ........
Millions need food stamps .........

The Chinese were leaders in the world at one time, because they lost that does that make them a developing country??

That's their term for their overall standard of living being behind ours, and in that sense they're correct.

We're going to have a hard time convincing them they need to lead, when we've established ourselves as the world leaders in creating climate change.

That is due purely to the adoption of greedy capitalistic selfishness within the country and,
in particular, within the administrative hierarchy of the country.

This is why China shares that inequality with other countries who have corrupt leaders,
a few incredibly rich families and a lot of dispossessed poor.

Using their own greed & inhumanity as an excuse to pollute more is exactly the same shitty
approach as adopted by the Exxon board (et al).
