Arctic ice extent may have made the turn already.

According to NSIDC, on average, the lowest extent happens on September 12th. This year, on Sept. 4th, extent was 4.238 million sq km and it has been above that since, now sitting at 4.342 million sq km. If that holds, the 4.238 msk total will rate as the 4th lowest extent on record, ahead of 2016, 2012 and 2007.

Not quite down to that 4.238 yet, but the 11th's figure of 4.280 is the 2nd lowest of the year so far.

by both the single day (4.100) and 5 day (4.153) measurements (the latter being what they use for their 'Charctic' graph), just barely below 2007 and 2016; 2012 is still well below that.
