ATLANTA (AP) Most of the South from Texas to parts of South Carolina will be under heat advisories and warnings as temperatures will feel as high as 117 degrees (47 Celsius), forecasters said.
The most intense heat Tuesday was expected in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama; and in areas near Memphis, Tennessee.
The warnings come one day after the temperature and humidity combined for a Monday heat index of 121 degrees (49.4 Celsius) in Clarksdale, Mississippi. It was only a few degrees cooler in West Memphis, Arkansas.
In Alabama, the highest reported heat indexes Monday were 112 degrees (44.4 Celsius) in Florence, Tuscumbia and Gurley.

(7,736 posts)West Texas, I've always said it was "lime" disease (lots of limestone) too much lime in the water which causes dementia. Have you ever been to Midland/Odessa (where "W" lived for years).....nuff said.

(7,736 posts)always liked the El Paso area. Spent a lot of time at Ft. Bliss and did a lot of computer work when Levi's had a couple of large plants in El Paso area. I moved to Texas in '74 it was a much friendlier state back then. I wish we could rid ourselves of these right-wingers.

(4,971 posts)but the last time I lived in El Paso was for about 9 months in 1970. Dad sold the house in 2007 so other than my Dad's 1/2 Brother and a cousin we have no ties left back there. After retiring from the Army we ended up in San Diego, CA....there are far worse places to end up! (should I use this thingy?)

Donny and the Republicans are nothing more than irrelevant pimples on the planet's ass.
