We have all seen the damage plastic waste is doing around the world but sales of bottled water have continued to grow.

(102,304 posts)I doubt there have been a dozen times I've accepted a plastic single-use bottle of water since then. Frankly, I trust the quality of water (and iced tea) made with my own filtered tap water than many of the bottled waters so many waste $$ to buy.
Some think it "gauche" to carry around an insulated oversized bottle with you like my favorite, the 40 oz. Hydroflask. Ask me if I care.

(83,801 posts)I use Rubbermaid Water bottles that I wash and refill. I never buy bottled water.

(30,745 posts)I use a Camelback water bottle that I wash out every once in a while. I carry it around with me so that I never have to succumb to the offer of a plastic water bottle.
Mine goes everywhere with me too!

Think about that for a minute.
I do drink massive amounts of coffee, tea, and various flavored liquids, often not carbonated. The problem is that I am often too lazy or forgetful to carry around any of the large collection of portable plastic and stainless steel bottles I have.
And then, no matter how easy it is to make my own iced tea, at 9 bucks for a 24 pack of Lipton Diet is often to easy to avoid.
(And, what do I do with the bottle when I'm walking around and it's empty? it's enough of a pain to deal with when there's stuff in it?)

I confess, it's as much out of concern for my own health as it is concern for the health of the planet.

As for "eight glasses a day?" It's nonsense, promoted by the bottled water industry.
