First graders explore force, gravity and helium by making hot air balloon prototypes and testing what will make them sink. Letting them float up to the ceiling was more fun to watch!

Lowell’s annual STEMFest hums with energy. Students, teachers, and parents present projects expo-style, and there are interactive stations for all ages.
