On July 1, 2012, Con Edison took the drastic step of locking out 8,500 Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 1-2 union workers, including Cheung Lee of Syosset, NY. While Cheung worried about when hed go back to work, he didnt have to worry about paying his mortgage, thanks to Union Plus.
Cheung, an electrical technician, has been a UWUA member for 16 years and worked at Con Ed for the past four years. Although work has been steady, he is always mindful that anything can happen.

Cheung took no chances with his financial security. When he changed jobs four years ago, he made sure to stay union. And when he refinanced his home last year, he stayed with Union Plus Mortgage, which offers savings of $495 on closing costs, competitive interest rates and a unique Mortgage Assistance Program.
