Don't waste your time and money on Black Friday and Holiday shopping
suggested Christine Romans earlier this morning on her CNN show. Especially, she added with so many still out of work, with the fiscal cliff hanging around. Sorry, cannot find the video or even a transcript.
You are correct, of course. The problem is, 70% of our economy is based on service, including shopping. Service means spending discretionary income on things that we can do without. Mostly.
Thus, as we were driving around yesterday and watched all the traffic I was telling myself that this helps the economy, the stock market and, yes, our retirement funds.
We did take advantage of one ad, got a new Garmin GPS at $100, marked down from $180. Was the last one at OfficeMax...
